SERVING THE COMMUNITY

ACRES OF HOPE is a long term residential renewal center for homeless women with children with the goal of providing the support and life skills needed to become a healthy and self-sustaining family.  A team of 8-10 persons contribute 3 to 4 hours of their time and skills one Saturday in July annually completing cottage homes maintenance and repair; handymen jobs, grounds keeping and other property & grounds projects as assigned by the program supervisor. GOD’S WORK. OUR HANDS is an annual opportunity to build unity and relationships within our congregation and beyond into the community building unity and relationships with our community organizations. Resurrection community teams walk alongside our neighbors sharing God’s love by serving meals, cleaning houses, collecting, distributing, and harvesting food, doing crafts and playing games with children, and participate in a variety of other service activities.  We provide opportunities to serve in partnership with such organizations as the Salvation Army, St. John’s Program for Real Change, Gathering Inn, Courage House, Orangevale Food Bank, River City Food Bank, Placer Community Gardens, and Lutheran Social Services.  This year’s God’s Work.  Our Hands Sunday is September 11, 2016. GATHERING INN - Resurrection is one of more than 50 churches in the area that provides dinner and overnight accommodations to homeless guests of Gathering Inn, a nonprofit group serving the homeless. The ministry provides meals and company for our guests when they arrive. We open our doors about one night a month.  Contact Karen Murbach murbach5@outlook.com

THE CHRISTMAS FOOD AND GIFTS DRIVE is an annual drive to provide families in need in our community gifts and food to prepare a warm meal and Christmas celebration. Contact Barbara Peterson bjpeterson@rcsis.com

HOME START is a program in Roseville that successfully transitions homeless families into affordable, sustainable housing and self-sufficiency through a system of housing and support services that is comprehensive, flexible, accountable and accessible. www.rosevillehomestart.org

KAIROS PRISON MINISTRY – Each March and October, men from Resurrection become part of a team that facilitates a Christian retreat weekend at Folsom prison.  This ministry can also be supported through prayer, financial donations and providing cookies for the participants. Warren Schwegel Schwegel@cwo.com
