I have witnessed Faith In Action within and through the members of Lutheran Church of the Resurrection. Your prayers, cards, phone calls, text messages, Facebook posts, Caring Bridge messages, gifts, visits, hugs, kisses and tears have meant so much to my family and me during my recent injuries sustained in a small airplane crash. I know my recovery has been made possible by the love and prayers out poured to us. Faith In Action.
I have seen Faith In Action through my daughters, Sarah and Rachel. The experience of almost losing their mom has re-instilled in them the profound power of prayer and they have seen firsthand the positive results of prayer in their lives. As a mother who has been faithful and faith-filled my entire life, it enriches me to see them reach out in their faith. Faith In Action.
I have seen Faith In Action through my husband, David. His unconditional love and care for me is a reflection of God's love through Christ Jesus. Faith In Action.
The attached is a painting by Nathan Greene entitled, "Chief of the Medical Staff". This painting hangs in Mercy Medical Center in Redding, CA outside the ICU and Surgery Suite. This provided much comfort to my husband and daughters as they stayed by my bedside during the critical hours and days of my hospital stay. This painting depicts Jesus guiding the hands of the surgeon. David, Sarah and Rachel would look at this painting and pray for my healing. I truly believe God worked with the doctors and nurses in saving my life. Faith In Action.
I have been privileged to share my Faith In Action with friends and family through the documentation of my injuries and recovery. 1 Corinthians 13:7 reads "Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things". On December 27th at church we sang, "Love Has Come". There is a phrase in this carol that goes, "Love is born! Come, share in the wonder."
Seeing the wonder of God leads to the worship of God. Go beyond being charmed by it to being changed by it. Open your eyes, ears, feelings and see the wonder of God again.
Thanks be to God. Amen.
